What will kids learn during this program?
Essential Yoga Poses: Children will be introduced to a variety of yoga poses, including foundational ones like Mountain Pose, Downward Dog, Cat & Cow, Cobra Pose, Tree Pose, Warrior Pose, and more. They will also learn basic alignment, technique, and the benefits of each pose.
Breathing Techniques: Kids will explore different breathing exercises to enhance focus, relaxation, and self-awareness. They will learn how to use their breath as a tool for managing stress and improving overall well-being.
Mindfulness Practices: Children will develop mindfulness skills through guided activities and exercises. They will learn to be present in the moment, cultivate self-awareness, and develop emotional intelligence.
Strength and Balance: Kids will engage in yoga sequences and poses that promote strength, balance, and coordination. They will build physical strength, improve posture, and enhance body awareness.
Flexibility and Stretching: Through specific poses and stretching exercises, children will work on improving flexibility and mobility. They will learn techniques to release tension and increase their range of motion.
Focus and Concentration: Kids will participate in activities and poses that enhance mental focus and concentration. They will learn strategies to improve attention span, memory, and cognitive abilities.
Cooperation and Teamwork: We will also introduce cooperative games to encourage children to work together, communicate effectively, and develop a sense of cooperation and empathy.
Emotional Well-being: Children will explore poses, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness exercises that support emotional well-being. They will learn how to manage stress, regulate emotions, and cultivate a positive mindset.
Self-expression and Confidence: Kids will also have opportunities to express themselves creatively during our sessions. They will build self-confidence and develop a positive body image.
Stress and Anxiety Management: Children will acquire tools and strategies to manage stress and anxiety through yoga, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices. They will learn to identify stress triggers and implement healthy coping mechanisms.
By the end of this program, kids will have a solid foundation in yoga, mindfulness, coping skills, and self-care practices. They will have developed physical strength, flexibility, and balance, as well as enhanced emotional resilience and mental focus.
Weekly Schedule
Each week, our practices will have a focus, but all sessions will introduce breathing exercises, mindfulness, and meditation.
Week 1: Introduction and Basic Yoga Poses
In this introductory week, children will be warmly welcomed to the program. They will learn the foundations of yoga, its benefits, and how it can promote relaxation and mindfulness. We will guide them through basic yoga poses, including Mountain Pose, Tree Pose, Cat-Cow, Child's Pose, and Downward Dog. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on practice, children will focus on basic alignment, breathing techniques, and building body awareness.
Week 2: Yoga for Strength and Balance
During this week, children will explore poses that promote strength and balance. Through engaging warm-up activities, they will prepare their bodies for the practice ahead. Parul will introduce poses like Warrior Pose, Chair Pose, and Boat Pose, which help develop core strength, stability, and balance. The class will also incorporate fun challenges or games that require balance and coordination, allowing children to enhance their physical abilities while having a great time.
Week 3: Yoga for Flexibility and Stretching
Flexibility and stretching are essential components of a well-rounded yoga practice. This week, children will focus on poses and sequences designed to improve their flexibility and increase their range of motion. We will guide them through poses such as Cobra Pose, Butterfly Pose, and Forward Fold, emphasizing proper alignment and encouraging gentle stretching. Children will learn to listen to their bodies and find their own comfortable limits while experiencing the benefits of increased flexibility. In this week, kids will also be introduced to Sun Salutation, a yoga flow with 12 poses to boost their energy, improve memory, and enhance overall well-being.
Week 4: Yoga for Focus and Concentration
In this week's class, children will learn how yoga can enhance their focus and concentration abilities. We will lead them through a series of poses that require mental focus, including Tree Pose and Warrior III Pose. They will be introduced to mindfulness exercises such as deep breathing and guided visualization to help children center their attention and improve their ability to concentrate. The class will conclude with a relaxation exercise to help children unwind and experience a sense of calm.
Week 5: Yoga for Confidence and Self-expression
Confidence and self-expression are vital for a child's development. This week's class will focus on poses and activities that promote body awareness, self-esteem, and self-expression. Children will be introduced to poses like Warrior II Pose, Camel Pose, and Lion's Breath, which encourage self-assuredness and allow them to express themselves through movement. They will have the opportunity to explore creative yoga flows or sequences, fostering their confidence and encouraging them to embrace their unique abilities.
Week 6: Yoga for Emotional Well-being
Emotional well-being is a crucial aspect of overall health. In this week's class, children will learn yoga poses and activities that support their emotional well-being. They will be introduced to poses such as Happy Baby Pose, Bridge Pose, and Pigeon Pose, which help release emotions and tension from the body. Our instructors will guide children through guided journaling or drawing exercises that allow them to express and process their emotions. Mindfulness techniques for emotional regulation and self-care will also be incorporated to help children develop a greater sense of emotional balance.
Week 7: Eye Exercises, Pranayama, and Empowering Yoga Sequence
This week's class will focus on the health and well-being of children's eyes. The session will begin with eye exercises and relaxation techniques designed to relieve eye strain and promote eye health. Children will learn pranayama, or breathing exercises, to enhance their focus, energy, and overall well-being. The class will then progress into an empowering yoga sequence, incorporating poses that promote strength, confidence, and positivity. Through this session, children will gain valuable tools for both physical and mental wellness.
Week 8: Yoga for Resilience
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from challenges and setbacks. In this week's class, children will explore yoga poses and sequences that cultivate resilience and inner strength. Poses such as Warrior Poses, Bridge Pose, and Camel Pose will be taught, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and overcoming obstacles. Mindfulness activities and positive affirmations will be integrated to foster resilience, self-belief, and a growth mindset.
Week 10: Managing Stress and Anxiety
This week's class will provide children with tools and techniques to manage stress and anxiety through yoga and mindfulness practices. Children will learn stress-relieving poses and relaxation techniques, including Child's Pose, Legs-up-the-Wall Pose, and Savasana. Our instructors will incorporate guided imagery, deep breathing exercises, and mindfulness activities that can be used to manage stress and anxiety in their daily lives. The class will focus on empowering children with strategies to identify stress triggers and implement healthy coping mechanisms.
